DAY 11

### Downline Online SFI Promotion Course - Day 11 ###

Before I launch into the AMAZING business building technique you're going to learn today, I have to share this:

#### "This Isn't Working" ####

I'll be honest (as I always am). I'm angry. A dozen times a week, I get email from people in our Downline Online group thanking me for creating this course and appreciating the information in it (I'm giving you everything I know!).

But about once every two weeks, I get an email from someone saying "This isn't working. I've done everything in your course and it's not working."

Even though the number of times I hear that is INFINITESIMAL compared to the number of thanks that I get, these emails stick in my craw. Let me tell you why.

Because when I ask these people to be more specific and tell me what they're actually doing, EVERY ONE of them has said, "I'm placing free classifieds and doing the small FFA blasts and I submitted my SFI site to search engines."

When I ask them to show me the ad or headline they're using, it's ALWAYS something completely different than what I recommended in our lesson on copywriting and in the samples.

They NEVER put up an FFA page. They NEVER placed an ezine ad. They FORGOT that doing search engine submissions can take MONTHS to work. They NEVER did a complete FFA blast using FFA Blaster (http://downlineonline.com/ffa). They never did a MASSIVE clasified ad submission with The Classified Connection (http://downlineonline.com/class).

In short, they DID NOT do what I've recommended in this course!

Let me be blunt. This stuff works! You know how I can make that claim with 100% certainty?

Because YOU'RE READING THIS!

You're in SFI!

How do you think you got here!?!?

Through one of the things I'm describing in this course!

I'm teaching you everything I know and everything I do!

Besides, the most successful online marketers I know have all said "What has made me rich is that I tried a lot of things that DIDN'T work until I found the ones that did!"

When we place an ad that doesn't pull responses, we don't say "This doesn't work!" We ask "Hmmmm, was it a bad headline, a bad offer, a bad ezine that's going to the wrong market? I wonder what went wrong so I know not to do that again."

There are only three things that make an ad not work:

1) Bad headline or bad ad 2) Sending the ad to people who aren't interested 3) Not getting the ad in front of ENOUGH people who are interested

Figure out which of these is the problem and FIX IT.

Your job is to find the one or two (or a dozen if you're bold) things that work for you and DO THEM. If something doesn't seem to be working, figure out why and fix it, or TRY SOMETHING ELSE.

If it's working for other people in the group -- and it IS! -- and it's not working for you... it's not because the system doesn't work, it's because you're doing something that doesn't work.

Do something else!

That's the end of my rant.

#### Getting Instant Affiliates ####

Okay, I lied. One more bit of ranting.

You know why people say "it isn't working" instead of finding something that does?

They're afraid.

Afraid to spend a couple dollars without KNOWING IN ADVANCE what the payback will be.

Afraid to try something they haven't done before, like place an ad in an ezine, or set up an FFA page.

We're ALWAYS afraid of something new or of throwing away a couple bucks or a few hours of our time, but if you want to be successful in this business, you might want to get comfortable with that fear and just DO IT anyway!

Today's lesson is something that will probably scare you a bit. It'll probably take you out of your comfort zone. It'll probably challenge your fears a bit.

And IT WORKS!

It can get you 5-10 new Affiliates PER DAY!

And IT'S FREE!

It just takes your time.

Just to let you know how powerful and special this information is, I know someone who SELLS what I'm about to tell you for $295!

So, what is this incredible technology?

I'll tell you where it came from before I tell you what it is.

In traditional networking, people say "approach (that is, bother) anyone who's within three feet of you and present your opportunity to them."

There are a bunch of problems with this technique. First, it's humiliating to approach strangers face to face. Second, you're going to have to deal with a LOT of rejection since most of the people within three feet of you don't give a rat's patootee about your opportunity. Third, since we tend to do the same basic things every day, we mostly bump into the same people within three feet of us every day. And, finally, when you are somewhere that you would bump into new people, like in a mall, don't you want to shop (or eat, or whatever), instead of working?

Now what if I told you that online, anonymously, easily, quickly and without any rejection, you could find HUNDREDS of people to "approach" and point to SFI?

You can.

You can get online, locate people INTERESTED in business and making money, and have an EASY, 2 minute "conversation" with them over the Net and have them join your SFI group!

There are two parts to this technique: Finding the people and Talking to them.

As you read this, I can imagine it might seem odd or scary. But I ASSURE you, that if you try it for an hour and see how fun it is, and see the results you get, you'll get so excited, you'll look back at today and laugh at your fear!

*** Finding People ***

There are two ways to do this. One if you're on AOL and one if you're not.

Many people on the Internet fill out questionares with information about their interests, hobbies, location, families, etc.

Think about this for a minute. They have (and you may be one of "them") have spent time to fill out a form specifically so that people could find out about them!

You're going to take advantage of that and find people who are interested in: MLM, network marketing, making money, home business, etc. Here's how.

(These is how MY version of AOL works. Your's might be SLIGHTLY different)

Get on AOL and go to the Member Directory

In the keyword section, type one of those words I just suggested (or try one I didn't think of if you think that it will describe someone who might be interested in making money working part-time at their computer... maybe "homemaker," "stay-at-home," or something else).

If you want, you can add other search criteria, like locations.

Narrow the field to only those who are online by selecting the "Return only members online" checkbox

Click on the Search button.

Look at who you have found!

Pick a person and double click on her/his name to see their profile.

Look at what you know about this person!

I'll tell you what to do in a moment.

You can do the same thing I just described with a program called ICQ (that you should have downloaded and installed yesterday -- http://www.mirabilis.com). If you haven't yet, sign up with ICQ.

ICQ loads automatically when you connect to the Internet.

Open ICQ and click on Menu or click on the ICQ button.

In the Find Users menu, select White Pages (there are other ways to get to the White Pages you can use).

The White Pages search screen appears.

Select "Interests/Occupations" and, like I just described, put in the keywords I already mentioned, or select one I missed that you think might turn up people interested in SFI.

Select the "Show only online" checkbox.

When the list of ICQ users appears, right click on a name and select "Info" to see their profile.

It's as if you just got a personal introduction to them!

*** Talking to them ***

Now, when it's time to "talk" to the people you're seeing is when many people start to get scared.

But remember, there's no *personal* rejection, because all they know about you is a nickname (you can take on a persona and act like anyone you want!)

And, when you see what a conversation will look like, you'll realize how risk-free this really is.

Okay, to start the conversation, AOL users do this: When you're looking at the user's profile, click on LOCATE. Then click on IM (instant message). ICQ users right click on a user's name and select Message.

Quiet the butterflies in your stomach and type, "Hello?"

Click on send.

So far, so easy, right?

Now, you can wait to see if they respond or you can start another "conversation" while you're waiting.

When someone responds, they'll probably say hello back, or ask who you are.

You reply, "I saw in your profile that you're interested in (whatever the keyword you chose was). I'm looking into online busineses and making money online. How's it going for you?"

They'll reply.

Be interested in what they said. If they say they're not doing anything or it's not going well, you can simply say, "I found a really cool online income course that would probably help you. Want to know where to get it (it's free)?"

If they say things are going great and try to point you to *their* offer, you can say, "Sounds interesting, let me check it out. Be right back. Hey, BTW, I found a really cool online income course that might help you out. Want to know where to get it while I look at your info (it's free)?"

If they say yes, point them to your SFI site!

Then tell them you have to go, but you want to stay in touch and see how things are going for them. Say goodbye.

THAT'S IT!

If you want, you can email them later and say "Thanks for our chat. Here's that website I told you about for the FREE online income course."

If you really think you can handle it, you can try this:

Spend more time talking to the people you bump into!

(Obviously I was kidding about the "advanced" part)

Find out more about them, where they are, what they do. Have an actual conversation. You'll be amazed at how easy and fun it is, and when you do this, the odds are greater that they'll go to your SFI site when you ask them to.

*** Now what? ***

Nothing. Some will check it out, some won't. So what. Next!

The conversation above would last about 2 minutes. You could have 2 or 3 going on at once. If you did that for an hour a day, you could have 5-10 new Affiliates PER DAY!

As you do this technique, you'll discover your own favorite, personal tricks and improvements. Have fun!
