The Downline Online 21-day
SFI Promotion Course

DAY 15

Today is, in a number of ways, a continuation of yesterday.

But before we get to that part, I want to talk about our FEE vs. FREE promotions again.

Internet marketing is really simple when you understand it from this perspective:

Your success is virtually guaranteed when you know how much money you make per visitor, then get visitors for less money than that.

Now, this would be a piece of cake if we were selling widgets for $10 each and knew that out of 100 visitors 1 would by a widget. Then, we would know that, on the average, we make ten cents per visitor ($10/100). Once we knew that, we would have to simply find ways to get visitors for less than ten cents.

In this business, it's not so direct since this business produces long-term, residual income, where one person could be worth tens of thousands of dollars, and since the money doesn't come as directly as "visit-order-cash."

But, now that many of us have been getting checks for a couple months, we're seeing a bit of a trend:

You earn $10 per month per Member YOU refer.

As your group builds and you move further "up" the compensation plan, you'll earn $2-4 on Members in your PERSONAL Powerline that you DIDN'T personally refer

Eventually, at the top of the plan, you can earn $2.00-$10.00 per Member per month in your ENTIRE group!

When you look at it that way, it's OBVIOUSLY worth it if you can get Members for $2 or less! You'll make that investment back in just a couple months!

The fun part is that there are LOTS of techniques that you're learning where you get Affiliates for WAY LESS than that. But if you want to jump into some of the more powerful, faster, FEE options, use $1-2/Affiliate as a guideline.

##### Getting Creative, Part 1 #####

First, if you remember yesterday (sometimes I can't), I said that one of the goals of this course is to help turn on your creative thinking skills so you can find novel and unique ways to promote your SFI site.

Today, you're going to start flexing your creative muscles.

There are a number of ways to drive people to your site:

* Contacting them directly (when they get your response after they submit to your FFA page, when you mail to your list, etc.)

* Contacting them directly through another party (e.g. ezine, paid mailing list, newsletter, etc.)

* Placing an ad where they will see it (on a popular website, in a classified ad area, in a newspaper, etc.)

So, the thing you want to do is find those kinds of resources and then use them.

There are two good ways to do that. One, I've been recommending: read your incoming mail and look for ads for services and sites.

The other is to go on a hunt.

I'll repeat these instructions again in a moment, but for now, here's the idea:

Go to your favorite search engine, if you have one, and search for any keywords that you can think of that relate to the kind of people we're trying to find -- people in MLM, business opportunity seekers, people who want to work at home, people who want to make money online, etc.

Go to those sites, check them out. See if they link to other sites. Check those out too.

Poke around and see what you discover.

If you find an interesting website, remember to add it to your Favorites List or Bookmarks so you can easily find it again.

With enough hunting, you'll find places to put banner ads (get ads at http://downlineonline.com/members/sample.htm and http://sixfigureincome.com/affiliate/ ), classified ads, articles, etc. You'll find places with cool advertising resources. You'll find... well, who knows what you'll find. Just keep searching and think, "How might I be able to use this site/service? Can it get me Affiliates for under $2 each? Can I test it inexpensively to find out?"

Happy hunting.

*** EXTRA BONUS BRAIN JOGGER ***

Here, this will get your brain going -- if you've been signing up for various FREE services (websites, autoresponders, etc.), you'll remember that they all make some comment about how they're free because they are supported by PAID ADVERTISING.

For example, myreply.com sends out ads to the people using its free autoresponder service.

Do you know who MOST of the people using this service are?

People looking to make money online!

Are you thinking "Hmmm... wonder what it would cost to advertise with myreply.com?" You should be!

##### Your Most Valuable Asset, Part 2 #####

Yesterday I talked about how valuable your own list of email addresses is and asked you to start collecting names from the various sources you already have.

Today, I want to tell you what makes your list more valuable.

Keeping your list "clean."

A "clean" list is one with a limited number of bad email addresses (in a given mailing, if less than 10% are undeliverable, that's good).

A "clean" list is one where the people getting the mailing like getting it, or at least don't mind (which is more likely).

There are two ways to keep your list clean:

1) Go through your list before you mail it, looking for obviously bad email addresses. Trust me, you'll recognize them. Also, remove any addresses with words like "spam," "abuse," "noemail," etc. in them.

This will only take a few minutes, even with a big list.

2) At the end of every email, put "remove" instructions. If you have your own website, you can ask people to email "remove@YOUR_DOMAIN.com" or, if you don't have your own website, ask them to email you with "remove" in the subject.

When you get these "remove requests," REMOVE those people from your list and DON'T MAIL TO THEM AGAIN!

You'll probably also want to remove SFI Affilates from your list, too (you'll know about them when you get New Affiliate notices).

Keeping your list clean is a relatively simple process and it will produce BIG results.

##### Today's ACTION Plan - FREE #####

*** OPTION 1 ***

Go resource hunting. If you don't have a favorite search engine, try http://altavista.com, http://yahoo.com, http://excite.com, http://hotbot.com, http://infoseek.com, http://northernlight.com, http://lycos.com, http://magellan.com.

There's also a couple sites that search many search engines simultaneously. My favorite is http://dogpile.com

*** OPTION 2 ***

Clean your list, add remove instructions to your outgoing email message, and mail to your list.

What to mail them?

Any one of our sample ads or an ad like it that you compose. Remember, you want a strong, short, benefit-driven headline. Your goal is to get them to your SFI website and sign up.

##### Today's ACTION Plan - FEE #####

*** OPTION 1 ***

Given what we said about cost per Affiliate, consider the submission services and products mentioned on the Resource page of the DO website.

*** OPTION 2 ***

Also, as I mentioned yesterday, consider a mailing to the Postmaster direct list. Or advertising to the myreply.com customers, or the getresponse.com customers.

Get creative and find other places that you might want to try advertising.

##### What's up for tomorrow #####

1) Another source of effort-free Affiliates.

2) Responding to your Affiliates and Members.

See you then,

Steven Sashen
