The Downline Online 21-day
SFI Promotion Course

DAY 6

We're still just getting you started, setting up a foundation that will support you on your path to Financial and Time Freedom.

"Is it working?"

I must say, it cracks me up when I get this question from Affiliates on Day 4 or 5. In most businesses, you don't expect to see results for weeks, months or years! But here on the Net if we don't see something NOW, we think it's broken.

Let me say a couple things about the timing of this business. Technically, realize that on a good day, if you placed an ad on a Thursday, it shows up on Friday, and someone responds to it on Saturday, you may not hear about it until Monday when you check your email.

But even that is fast. Not all ads show up in a day. Not all ads get seen in a day. Give it time. Even online, slow but steady wins the race.

My personal experience is that each little bit I do adds up. When I first started advertising, my results seemed small. Over time, they got better and better, each new ad doing a little more. Until now, I get so many leads from so many places, I don't even know where they come from!

You'll get there too, just keep doing that little bit every day.

#### Today's Thought - Who are you? ####

There are two kinds of people in the world. People who divide the world into two kinds of people and people who don't.

Seriously, you wouldn't argue that people have different styles, different natural talents, different ways of looking at the world. Understanding some of these differences can make a BIG difference in your success.

If you introduce someone to SFI -- with an ad, an email, or in person -- and the two of you have very different styles and ways of looking at the world, there's a chance they may not be able to see the value of SFI in their lives. If you talk about SFI in Spanish to somebody who only speaks French they could miss out on THE thing that could give them the Freedom they desire.

What can you do to to bridge this gap? Use one of our Downline Online translators!

Before you get a translator, you need to know what languages people are speaking.

In business, there are four critical roles required for a successful operation. I think of them as the four legs of a business table. With any leg missing or too long or too short, the table won't support any weight.

I'll describe the four legs from the perspective of the kind of person who is typically in that role.

* Management -- someone who is able to describe what makes a particular business work, who can evaluate a business system, who can see the "big picture" about how to achieve success, who can chart they course to that goal.

* Administration -- someone who can handle the details (often, the accounting), who understands the nuts and bolts of the business and the business system, who knows the rules and regulations, who knows how to fill out the paperwork.

* Marketing -- someone who knows the value of the products and can come up with creative ways to share them with others and make money with them, who can write an ad, who knows how to "close a sale."

* Support -- someone who's an evangelist or cheerleader for the company, who likes to come up with ways to reward people for doing a good job, encourage people who are striving for a goal, and give a "pep talk" to those who need one.

Now, ask yourself, "Which one of those types am I?" You're probably a combination of at least two, but there's definitely ONE that's your "natural talent," the thing that you can do without thinking, the thing that you could do in your sleep? Which one is it?

Now think about the last person you may have told about this or some other business. Pick one where you couldn't see eye to eye.

Which type of person were they? Were they the same type as you or, more likely, different from you?

Imagine the scenario -- a Support person talking about how exciting this business is, how much fun it can be, how everyone is working together toward their goals... talking to a Management person, who just wants to know the facts about the company and the business building system. Would you be shocked if the Management person wasn't interested? Of course not.

So, what to do with this information?

Three things:

** First, if YOU want to talk to someone who speaks your language, there's a place to find other, like-minded folk, who can answer your questions, share their experience and give you the bottom line. Or, if you need to talk to someone who's an expert in one of your "weak" areas, you have someplace to find them.

** Second, if you bump into someone who isn't your type, who you want to introduce to SFI, and THEY need to talk to someone who speaks their language, there's a place to point them.

** Third, HELP OTHERS. I'd like you to provide your natural talent to help us all. Why

If you're a Management person, I'd like you to take your skills and learn about this business and share what you've learned. If you're an Administrative person, I'll show you how to understand the system better than anyone, so you can teach others about it. If you're a Marketing person, you'll discover killer ways to profit from the products and show people how they can. You Support people, you'll find ways to PLAY cheer others on as we all head towards our Freedom goals! You don't have to know it all now, just offer your services and learn as you go (when you have a question that you don't know, just ask me or Rich Strayer, the Gurus).

Where do you do all of those three things?

http://downlineonline.com/members/contacts.htm

Then, when you have a question, you know where to go. When you get an email with a question you don't know the answer to, you know where to point that person (and you'll find out the answer in the process). When you see your SFI business building and you tell someone you know (trust me, even though we're doing this business online, you'll be telling people... when it's working, you won't be able to help yourself!), you can make sure they can talk to someone who speaks their language.

##### Today's Lesson - Ezines! #####

I know someone who knows 300,000 business opportunity seekers. She stays in contact with them a couple times a week. They know her, they like her, they respect her. They listen to her.

Who is she? Her name is Abby Drew and she publishes an Ezine (electronic magazine) called DEMC. DEMC is a publication featuring articles about business success. People get DEMC in their emailbox and they read it.

Isn't that better than what you can say about your ads, which you HOPE someone will see, and which you HOPE they'll read?

If you're thinking "So what, *I'm* not an Ezine publisher. *I* don't have a 300,000 person mailing list!"

That's okay, because you know what else is in DEMC that people read?

Advertisements.

For a small fee, you can advertise in DEMC.

For a bit more, you can mail your ad, and only your ad, to EVERYONE who gets DEMC!

And here's the kicker, there are HUNDREDS, if not THOUSANDS of ezines that you can advertise in! Many are much smaller than DEMC, but you know what? They cost less, too!

Some even let you run a trial ad for FREE!

How do you find ezines to advertise in... well, we'll get to that in...

##### Today's ACTION Plan - FREE #####

Subscribe to ezines!

*** OPTION 1 ***

Go to http://downlineonline.com/members/ezine.htm

Use the two services there to find and subscribe to ezines related to business, MLM, etc. (or get creative and think of other ezines -- I've actually had some success in general interest ezines!).

*** OPTION 2 ***

If you've been submitting to classified sites you should be getting a good amount of return mail.

This mail could be a goldmine for you!

Look at the ads you've received and see if there are any ezines mentioned -- I'll bet there are, and I'll bet some of them let you run an ad for free.

DO IT!

*** OPTION 3 ***

Open your email software (it should already be open, since you just got this email!), and start a new message.

Put your own email address in the "to:" field.

In the "subject" field, put "subscribe"

In the "bcc:" field (NOT the "cc:" field), put ALL of the following email addresses (highlight them, copy them, put the cursor in the "bcc:" field, paste them):

URGENT!!!!! I *KNOW* that MANY of these email addresses will come back as invalid. I do the best I can to keep this list up-to-date, but ezines come and go and email addresses change. Just KNOW that you will get a number of bounce-backs if you mail to this entire list.

##### Today's ACTION Plan - FEE #####

*** OPTION 1 ***

Go through your incoming mail and look at the ezines that require some money to advertise.

If it feels like it's worth spending a few bucks on a test to that ezine, DO IT!

You may want to write to the ezine editor and ask for a ROM (run of mail) discount -- this means that if they have leftover space for an ad right before the ezine gets mailed, they'll squeeze in your ad for less money.

##### What's up for tomorrow #####

1) Recap of the week.

2) The "get rich slow" plan

Until then, be well,

Steven Sashen
