Tracking your results

If you're using more than one way to point people to your site, you want to know which one works and which one doesn't, and then dump the ones that don't work!

How can you tell the difference? Tracking.

By tracking your efforts, you'll know which techniques to run with and which to give the big heave-ho. I couldn't run my business without tracking!

Tracking is simple: The 6-Figure website identifies you and links visitors to you through your 5 digit Affiliate ID number. But you can add a 2-digit code to the end of your Affiliate ID number, like this:

Put the "." between your ID and your tracking code.

Use a different code number for each ad you run and you'll be able to analyze which techniques work and which don't. Always write down the codes you use and where you use them. Put this info somewhere you won't lose!

For example, I made a simple chart with the numbers 01 through 98 (do not use .99!) in the left column. When I'm ready to do a new ad, I find an unused code number and write down what ad I'm using that code for and the cost of that ad, if any.

Then, as I get New Affiliate email announcements, I'll check the Processing Code to see if that Affiliate came from one of my ads, and which one. Here's a section of one of those New Affiliate emails:

     Processing Code R27270.19-L78132

The first number of the processing code, following the "R," is the "referrer" or "enroller," the person who placed the ad.

If it's your 6-Figure ID#, then you know this affiliate came from one of your promotions.

If you see a 2-digit code after that number, you can check your chart and see which ad the Affiliate responded to. Keep a tally of these numbers and you'll be able to fill out the "Affiliates obtained" section of your tracking chart and analyze your results, like this:

Looking at this table, it's clear I'm pulling that banner ad! The other two ads both look like killer deals to me! (If I can get a new Affiliate for $1-2 I'm going to make money in the long run!)

If I weren't tracking this, knowing about that horrible banner ad, I would be throwing money down the toilet!
